In recent years, with more and more frequent external exchanges andinternational communication, interpreting plays a bridge and bond role. Interpretershave now become an indispensable part in foreign-related activities ranging fromtop-notch forums and summits to meetings and lectures. The author is lucky enoughto take part into the Foreign-aid Training seminars organized by NENU in2012,during the interpreting process, the author’s role as an interpreter has been recognizedas a bridge in helping the listeners overcome language barriers, understand thetraining contents, and communicate with the professors effectively.This thesis is based on the research objects from foreign-aid training program,and using “Translation+Commentary” research as its writing mode. The authortranscribes the two-hour interpretation (Administrative System of Education in Chinafor Professor Bai Weichun and The Decade Trends and Policy Issues for Rural SchoolClosure and Consolidation in China for Professor Wu Zhihui) recording into atranscript and assesses her performances reflectively referring to relevant translationtheories. Because this writing mode is a relatively new method with few researchresults, the author wants to find out advantages and shortcomings to makeself-assessment and improve the interpreting quality through analyzing theperformance.This thesis totally comprises five parts: Part One gives a brief introduction to thebackground and content of the lecture together with the basic framework of thetranscript; Part Two analyzes the text from the perspective of syntactic and stylisticfeatures; Part Three assesses the interpreting quality on good performance and poorperformance; Part Four gives the countermeasures for better improvement; Part Fivesummarizes the contents and factors that influence the interpreting quality. This thesisaims at reflect on the deficiencies and learn from failures. Meanwhile, the author alsopoints out the limitation of this thesis, which serves as a guide to some extent forfuture foreign-aid interpretation through quantitative analysis method.
