Nowadays, MTI has been set up in many universities. But as investigated, thesegraduates can not quickly adapt to the market demand. The reason for the abovephenomenon is closely related to MTI interpreting course design. This report is a survey on the status quo of MTI interpreting course design ofuniversities in Guangdong and Guangxi. The author chooses the survey subjects inGuangdong and Guangxi because of the particularity of regional development anddesperate shortage of interpreter talents in both areas. The author hopes to identify thestatus quo of MTI course design of universities in Guangdong and Guangxi, whichwill be helpful in making two areas learn from each other, and then make suggestionsand a guideline for students and perfection of course design on basis of the marketdemand. The author adopts quantitative analysis with questionnaires. Firstly, the authorchose four universities and delivered75questionnaires to investigate MTI interpretingstudents’ attitudes toward course design. Then, the author delivered another15different questionnaires to translation companies to identify the status quo ofinterpreting market and requirements for interpreters.
