With the globalization of economy and culture, there is a great need for high-qualified translation personnel on the market. Therefore, MTI arose at this historic moment in China. This indicates that the education sector is concerned about the actual translation market demands, focusing on training more practice-based translation talents. The goal of MTI is to cultivate the morality, intelligence and physique of well-rounded students and to adapt to the social, economic and cultural needs of high-level, professional interpreters. Since MTI was established in 2007, nearly eight years has gone by. It is of great importance to discuss whether its curriculum, capacity-building, CAT teaching, professional practice and the cultivated talents have been able to meet the demands of the market. This study, from the view of the market via a questionnaire of 125 translators as the research object, through SPSS19.0 and Excel2007 data analysis, finds the actual market demands. These demands include curriculum, capacity-building, CAT teaching, professional practice, etc. This study also compares these demands with the present situation of four universities which offer MTI courses in Ji'nan to find the room for improvement. Based on this research, the author proposes to improve MTI graduate student training strategies, such as strengthening cross-field professional knowledge, absorbing the experienced excellent interpreters as lecturers, cultivating students for more hands-on practice abilities and improving the ability to translate.
