Report On Translation Of "Chinese Road-the Thoughts Development Of The Communist Party Of China"

This is a report on the translation of "Chinese Road--The Thoughts Developmentof The Communist Party of China (CPC)". The original is published on the fourthissue of Literature of the Communist Party of China in2012. The main content of theoriginal is divided into five parts:"choice","foundation lying","opening up","breakthrough" and "development", which is about the growth and greatachievements of the CPC. From this article, people can get a clear perspective of thedevelopment of the socialist road with Chinese characteristics, the connotation andessence of the road and the relation among the Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedongthought and the system of theories of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Thetranslation report consists of four parts. The first part is the introduction to thetranslation project, including the project background, the significance and thestructure of the report. The second part is a brief introduction to the original text,including the main content, the general features of the common political articles andthe special features of this article. The third part is the applied translation theories andthe methods used in the translation process. The reference theories used in thistranslation is skopos theory. On this basis, the translator tries to explore and solve thedifficulties in the process of translation which mainly refer to the translation of theproper nouns and the words with Chinese characteristics, and the translation of thecomplex sentences and the parallel sentences. Concerning these issues, The translatorexplores the following methods: functional shifts in word forms，traditional methods,the strategy of explanation, the strategy of summarization, division and combination.The fourth part is the conclusion, including translation experience, lessons andknowledge gained from the project. The author hopes to obtain knowledge about translation techniques and standards of political articles through translating theoriginal text.
