The Research On The Village Opera

Village refers to the large human settlement or the groups formed by many settlements, it had played important role in the long Chinese history. The village not only carried the Chinese history but also her culture. Nowadays we are in an era of rapid development and urbanization, however, the historical, cultural and article value of the village should not be ignored.The Partridge Play was a local opera popular in Linzi of Zibo city in Shangdong, which had a history more than two hundred years. With its own charm, The Partridge Play expressed the spirit of Linzi (which used to be Qi’s capital in Spring and Autumn times) people and stands among the world of Chinese local operas with pride. The uniqueness of the Partridge Play was shown by the fact that it was the only local opera that was preserved by village. In the year of2006the Partridge Play was listed as one of intangible cultural heritages in Shandong Province, in June10th of2011it was again listed as one of the National intangible cultural heritage. However, the author had found that all the articles about the Partridge Play are still stayed on the brief introduction level without deepened studies. Due to many non-musical reasons the Partridge Play is facing the crisis of extinction. A detailed study to the Partridge Play was not only urgent but also necessary to the perseverance of such a rare local opera. In this study the author made a field study based on the previous studies and the findings were shown in the thesis. The author hope such a study could show the beauty of the Partridge Play to the readers and offer his pygmy effort for the future of it.
