During the Dynasties of Wei-Jin, the influence of the feudal ethical code hadgradually weakened. Ji Kang had to pin his hope on Taoism to rebuild a new ideal worldso that the nature became the very focus. He proposed the proposition of Exceed thefeudal ethical code and obey-the-nature as well. This paper studies Ji Kang’s thoughts byfocusing on the nature and obey-the-nature.Ji Kang’s conception of nature mainly includes four aspects, namely the nature ofpneuma, the principle of nature, the disposition of nature, and the ontology of nature. Thenature of pneuma is the basis of Ji Kang’s view of nature. Ji Kang claimed that all of thingsoriginate from pneuma, which showed in the principle of nature. The principle of nature wasthe disposition of nature when it was manifested in humans. Because all of things comefrom pneuma, so that it is the origin of all things. Furthermore, obey-the-nature is Ji Kang’sideal state which can be regarded as the ontology of nature. The way to obey the nature iskeeping mind pure and silent and returning to real mind. Obey-the-nature was not simplya slogan, Ji Kang devoted his whole life to practice it. Ji Kang presented his view ofnature throughout his whole theory. This paper considers the nature as a basis andanalyzes Ji Kang’s theories of sound without emotion, interpretation of privateness andhealth preservation thoroughly so as to display his thoughts of nature in detail. |
