| In recent years, a lot of manpower and material resources have been devoted into the field of optics and optoelectronics, and that is why China could be a leading country in this field. As the backbone of this industry, Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics (WNLO) provides theoretical and technical support for the development of Photonics and Optoelectronics. Development is inseparable from the study of advanced technology, and the study results from United States have strong references to our optical industry development. Through the translation project on Optics and Photonics Essential Technologies for Our Nation, the author hopes to provide certain benefits for the development of optics and optoelectronics.This translation project could be categorized into EST (English for Science and Technology) translation; by combining the characteristics of EST with the practical experience accumulated in the translation process, the author sums up some notes which need extra attention. And they are:prepare sufficient amount of knowledge reserves in the specific field; avoid any unsure translation and paraphrases; do a thorough proofreading before final completion. |
