Yan Ping Painting Art Research

Yan Ping is one of the most influential female artists in contemporary China. Thethemes of her creation range from still life and flowers, mother and son, performing troupe,to landscape sketches. Her oil paintings typically feature following characteristics: plainmaterials, rigorous conception, bold colors, random strokes, vigorous momentum,dazzlingly beautiful drawing, and magnificent and graceful charm, which combine rhythmof music, power of sculpture, and mellowness of freehand brushwork of traditional Chinesepaintings. Yan’s art pieces deliver highly powerful visual impact, which renders the viewersa sensational impression.This paper aims to analyze and interpret Yan’s art work from four aspects: paintingthemes, painting language, drawing composition, and artistic value, with reference toChinese aesthetic principle and theory. In the end, the paper highlights Yan’s unique artisticand aesthetic value through her paintings, which can provide guidance to contemporaryartists and will benefit the development of contemporary art.
