This translation practice report derives from homework in simultaneous interpretingclass. And the material of homework comes from Obama’s speech at Fudan University in2009. This speech is classical for its clear explanation and moderate tone, which is verypopular to us. So the author chooses this speech as the content of the practice.In this report, there are five chapters. Chapter1and Chapter2are the introduction ofthe task and process, which briefly introduces the content and process of the whole practice.Chapter3is the preparatory work, including searching for audios and videos of related topicsand getting familiar with about Obama’s speaking style, such as voice, speed, background andso on. Chapter4is the analysis, also the most important part. It has two main parts: Part1isthe successful application of interpreting method, including back translation, syntacticlinearity and reverse translation. Part2is the analysis of false translation, including the falsetranslation of numbers, sentences and double negation. The author analyzes it in detail in thereport. Then in the last chapter, the author summarizes the experience from the practice,which is useful for the later translation.
