Qutan Temple is the most intact temple building group of Mingdynasty in northwest China. People reserved it as "Imitation PalaceMuseum in Northwest", for its architectural style is about the same asPalace Museum in Beijing, there is also a local proverb says:"Arrive inQutan, No need for Beijing"! It means that the Qutan temple architecturestyle is originally connected with the mainland architecture art, it alsosuggested that Ming dynasty, the central government, reassured peoplewith religion power to consolidate the frontier area. The temple wasestablished in early period of Ming dynasty. At that time, Yuan dynastyhad lost central plains, but it still maintained a strong military strengthand larger political influence, it constantly threatened the newlyestablished Ming dynasty. The respectable Tibet Buddhist monkSangjiezhaxi (also known as: Sanluo lhama), With the mercy for allpeople, he hated warfare, longing for peace, so he undertook the task topersuade Tibetan tribal leaders so that they can yield to the newlyestablished Ming dynasty, and he made great contribution for thecountry’s unity. His success in persuading Tibetan tribes just reflected hispolitical ambition and his great compassion. In the complicated politicalstruggles, Sanluo lhama overcame great difficulties and persuaded theHandong tribe in northeast Qinghai yield to the government and accelerated the falling of corrupted Yuan dynasty. At the importanthistorical turning point, the war-torn people of all races obtained a chanceto recuperate for Sanluo lhama’s altruistic action, and it madefar-reaching influence for centuries. In order to reward Sanluo lama’scontribution, Zhu Yuanzhang expanded the Qutan temple, this createdgreat historical significance in country unification and national unity.
