Recently, with its developing economy and the upgrading international status,China has more powerful influences in the world. On the one hand, China starts to paymore attention to strengthening its international image and influence; on the otherhand, the world has concentrated on Chinese affairs, including its people, its society, its culture, which obviously leads to more English news reports about Chinese affaires. Therefore, as an essential tool of the international communication, theChinese-English news translation (short for C-E news translation in this thesis) ininternational communication has gradually attracted people’s attention. In China, domestic English news reports are expected to accurately express the information, such as national policies, to maintain our nation’s positive image. Because of culturaland linguistic limitations, the Chinese-English news translation still has manyproblems to be solved. On account of the translator’s subjectivity, China’s translation works areunavoidably influenced and limited by social ideology. Therefore, the thesis mainlydeals with the translator’s subjectivity in translating Chinese-English newspapers andmagazines in international communication. Based on the relevance theory, the authorwill make a further discussion on the translator’s subjectivity in C-E news translationwith some samples from domestic English news reports on Chinese affairs. Finally, the study will propose a systematic translating strategy.
