Analysis On The Model Of Tourism Development Of Historical And Cultural City With Community Participation

The theory of Tourism Development with Community Participation originallyemerged in order to solve the negative effects brought by the tourism developmentprocess in the western countries. With the participation of community, the economicbenefits of community residents can be increased and the negative impact of tourismcan be eliminated. It can also promote the sustainable development of tourism as wellas encourage people to manage and make impact on tourism development. The theoryof Tourism Development with Community Participation is very mature abroad, whichhas been widely used in tourism planning and development. The research of the theoryin China started relatively late, however, the theoretical research and practice isgradually improved after more than ten years’ development. China’s famous historicaland cultural city is identified and announced by the state, and there are119nationalfamous historical and cultural cities now. As a unique cultural phenomenon to China,historical and cultural city plays a leading role in cultural tourism and has greatinfluence on the development of tourism. At present, the study of historical andcultural cities in China have focused on tourism development with the city and theprotection of historical and cultural city tourism development, while the researchrelated to community participation is relatively few.This thesis makes research on Yulin city which is one of the second batches ofhistorical and cultural city. Based on amount of literary review and empirical research,with foundation of sustainable development theory, the thesis analyzes the issue ofcommunity participation in tourism development of historical and cultural city.Through interviews and questionnaire survey, it is found that community participationin tourism development of Yulin city is still in its infancy, which is far from meetingthe requirements of the progress of the tourism development of Yulin city. Althoughthe type and content of community participation in tourism of Yulin city are single,very few people can really participate in the tourism planning and development of theancient city, and the local government and tourism development department rarelysolicit opinions from the ordinary people, the residents not have the desire toparticipate in the tourism planning and development of the city at all. In order toimprove the ability and level of community participation in tourism development, thelocal residents of Yulin city should be brought into the tourism development. Throughanalysis of actual situation of Yulin city, the thesis finds out the present problems.Furthermore, the community participation pattern of Yulin city is put forward in orderto promote community and synchronous development of tourism.
