Modal verbs has been the focus and difficulty of the Chinese as a foreignlanguage teaching. Modal verb itself has a different modal meanings, differentmodal verb can represent the same meaning. The study attempts to contrast theSenses of Chinese with the modal expressions of Russian, Tajikistan,Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan language. According to the second language acquisitionorder theory, Research, using the questionnaire survey and corpus collected inthe Longitudinal and transverse inspection way, obtained the acquisition order ofChinese Modal verbs of the Central Asian Students, and explained it with thetheory of cognitive linguistics and put forward a number of teaching strategies.The structure of this paper is divided into five main sections:1. introduction. it introduces the background, purpose and significance,research review, and the theoretical basis of the research.2. the study design. It includes the object of study, research methods,survey tools, as well as the source and the sample size.3. the analysis of Chinese modal verbs in meanings and the contrast of Chinesemodal verbs and foreign modal expressions.4. By the questionnaires of the Central Asian students, it shows the AuxiliaryVerbs acquisition order tendentiousness of different verbs which express the samemodal meanings on the basis of the analysis of the data from the semantic andsyntactic plane, including the “ability”,“will”,“objectively possible”,“obligation”,“must”,“guess”. At last, the cognitive linguistics and semanticsof modal theory are used to make a reasonable explanation for this acquisition order.5. According to the collections of written materials of the Central Asianstudents, the acquisition order of typical modal verbs’ modal meanings is obtained.At the same time, the subjective theory is used to give a reasonable explanation forthis acquisition order from the learner’s cognitive plane.6. For the actual teaching, some suggestions on teaching and textbookswritten and the recommendations to help the Central Asian students to better graspthe Chinese modal verbs are given7. The summary of the research.
