China is a great power of dialect. It has paid much attention to the research ondialect since the ancient times. Traditional dialect studies tend to focus only on thecontrast of the voice and vocabulary among dialect and describe the differencesbetween them, which paid less attention to the systematic research on the functionwords in a particular dialect. The Study on function words in dialect not only canachieve the purpose to reveal some of the characteristics of the dialect itself, but alsoto provide the materials and the basis for Mandarin prepositions research, also has avery important significance in the study of Chinese history. It is very necessary tostudy prepositions, which is a very important part of function words.This paper analyzed and studied the prepositions of Jingyuan dialectcomprehensively and systematically, and tried to compare them with prepositions inthe Mandarin and other dialect systematically, in order to describethem.Synchronically and diachronically as comprehensive as possible and thus tohighlight the features of prepositions in Jingyuan dialect.The content of this article is divided into five parts:The first chapter is the introduction, this part includes the overview of JingyuanCounty and the phonetic system of Jingyuan dialect, the status of Jingyuan Dialectpreposition research, type of Jingyuan dialect preposition and research methods andtheory and data source and style directions. Such as: the dialectical preposition ofJingyuan is divided into six categories:①the prepositions of time and space;②the prepositions of direction;③the prepositions of reason;④the prepositions ofway;⑤the preposition of class;⑥the prepositions of range.The second chapter is the overview of prepositions system in Jingyuan Dialect,which has six sections of dialectical categories and were described as well as sampledin each category, such as: the comparison preposition "赶", used to compare traits andthe difference of degree and introduce the comparison object. The common "赶3"inJingyuan dialect is just like“比”and“较、较之”in Beijing dialect ".For example:我赶你力气大,不信了试一下?And so on.The third chapter are the special prepositions and sentence patterns. The special prepositions such as“逮”、“睎”、“连”、“趁”、“赶”,were studied and explained indetail one by one with lots of textual language materials; The Sentences with“赶”,“被”and“把”were analyzed in pragmatics and grammar to highlight the usage of theJingyuan dialect preposition.The fourth chapter has two subsections which is the comparison of prepositionsin the records of dialects published in Gansu during the recent three decades. Thecomparison list are made for various regional dialects of Gansu modern preposition.Then sentence patterns and some prepositions which are mainly to classification wereused to get some similarities and differences of dialects preposition, as well as to findthe basis of Jingyuan dialect preposition.The fifth chapter is the summary. This part briefly summarized the law and thecharacteristics of Jingyuan dialect preposition, such as“逮”and the use of passivesentences. Besides, the comparisons in both diachronic and synchronic aspects areaimed to understand and grasp the characteristics and laws of Jingyuan dialectpreposition more clearly.
