Qing Dynasty is the most changeable period in the West of Hubei Province. SystemReform of Chieftains to Bureaucrats had lead to massive immigration. Since then, theeconomic, society, culture of Western Hubei Province opened a brand-new page on history.Social customs based on the heritage also changes.This article aims at the collection, analysis of the Customs record in relevant localchronicles and anthologies of the literatus during the Qing Dynasty period, and with theadoption of related theory in modern folklore, this paper would tell the ethnic customs andlocal behavior of the Tujia Nationality during that time. Also we can refer to the differentfactors which had influenced a lot such as etiquette, festival folk-custom and daily lifecustoms. The article consists of five parts.The first part introduces the background of the selected topic and the review ofrelevant researches on this topic. By defining the concept of this topic,summarizing theachievements of previous studies and generalizing the shortage existing in the researchesin this field, the staring point and research purposes of this paper can be proposed.The second part will introduce the daily life in Western Hubei Province during theQing Dynasty such as diet, dressing and living. And we will try to bring to alive the dailyliving style of that period through the analysis of local history records.The third part will focus on local etiquette of ceremony in Western Hubei Provinceduring the Qing Dynasty, such as adult ceremony, wedding, funeral, would especially beintroduced. And we mainly want to have a clear reduction of the local folk custom.The fourth part will take a brief introduction of the local festivals which is veryspecial, Also it would tell us the multiple elements in local festival.The fifth part will take a brief discussion of the relations between the Customs and the natural environment, System Reform of Chieftains to Bureaucrats, the immigrationand any other factors. Then this paper will try to figure out the relations between them,and to reflect the social style from different perspectives.
