Hubei is high in the West and low in the East, with a huge altitude difference. The central part is a plain, surrounded by many mountains.Rivers flow into the provincial capital Wuhan from the surrounding areas of the province.Jingzhou Prefecture and Xiangyang Prefecture in the Qing Dynasty were the second most important transportation places in Hubei Province after Wuchang. In ancient China, horse and man-made tools were used to deliver letters, which began in ancient times and developed to its peak in the Qing Dynasty. It was the only way for the ruling class to transmit letters before the industrial revolution,Hubei Province has been an important area in the National Postal Map of Qing Dynasty since it appeared in three years of Kangxi. After the restoration and development of Kangxi,Yongzheng and Qianlong in the early Qing Dynasty, the number of post stations in Hubei Province increased continuously. The distribution of stations in the whole province is more in the east than in the West Jiangtai post, located in Jiangxia County, the provincial capital,is not only the center of the provincial post road, but also the center of Hubei connecting all parts of the country. As another form of post system in Hubei Province in Qing Dynasty, the number of delivery system is ten times that of post station. It is not only the hub of County Yamen in Hubei Province to connect the government, but also the channel to connect the counties.Hubei jidiepu was recorded in detail for the first time since Jiaqing, and the restoration of its route can reflect the traffic pattern of Hubei in Qing Dynasty. After the Opium War,the western new means of transportation were introduced into the Qing Dynasty, the traditional post system gradually changed, the delivery system of Hubei Province changed dramatically in the years of Xianfeng and Tongzhi, and the post system gradually shrank. After the self-made ship transportation appeared in 1890,the new modes of transportation of telegraph and train began to appear in Hubei.
