Revising Scale For Cyberbullying Victims’ Behaviors And Analyzing The Influential Factors

The purpose of this study was mainly to revise the scale for cyber victims. The target people were college students and individuals in online community. The methods used in this research were literature analysis, qualitative study, and questionnaire survey. According to these above, the researcher aimed to develop a scale suitable to China’s cyber victims, discuss the situation and influential factors of cyber victims, and then give suggestions on how to reduce the behaviors of cyberbullying, which could make up the blank of China’s psychological research on cyberbullying and cyber victims. First, the original scales was translated and deleted. Then by scale assessment and individual interviews, a pre-test scale came up. Second, according to the data of pre-test, item analysis and exploratory factor analysis were administrated, and the formal scale was completed. Finally, the reliability and validity of the scale were tested and a confirmatory factor analysis was carried out. After that, the present study discussed the features of cyberbullying, as well as the relationship with other variables. The results are listed as follows:(1) The internal consistency coefficient of the revised scale for victims of cyberbullying behaviors was0.825, split-half reliability was0.747, and all the indices of the confirmatory factor analysis managed with the theory standards. So, the scale had a good reliability and validity, which could be used as the tool of measuring victims of cyberbullying.(2) The overall average score of the cyberbullyed victim was1.5194, and the average scroe of the subscale of cyber verbal bullying, hidden identity and cyber fabricate was respectively1.3898,1.9640,1.4712, which were all in a low level.(3) There were significant positive correlations between the cyber victims’ behavior and psychological reaction, behavior reaction, counterattack reaction. There were significant positive correlations between the cyber victims’ behavior and active aggressive behavior and passive aggressive behavior.(4) On the gender factor, male suffering cyberbullying behavior was significantly more than female; on the factor of average online time, the person spending6-9hours and9hours suffered significantly more cyberbullying behavior than that spending1-3hours.(5) The personality traits could predict cyber victims’behaviors, which meant that there was a significant negative correlation between Agreeableness and the cyber victim, and that there was a extremely positive correlation between Openness and cyber victim.(6) Aggressive behaviors could be used to predict cyber victims’ behavior, which meant that there was a extremely positive correlation between Aggressive behavior and cyber victim.(7) Cyber victims’ behavior could predict psychological reactions, behavioral reactions, and counterattack reactions.(8) Cyber victims’ behaviors had the role of mediation.
