On The Quality Evaluation Of Simultaneous Interpretation Of TV Broadcast And Its Criteria

With the fast development of globalization, the communication between countries has greatly increased, and people start to pay more attention to the international issues and major events in every corner of the world. In order to increase the timeliness of TV programs, help the audience keep pace with the international trend and solve the cross-cultural and inter-lingual problems in TV programs, simultaneous interpretation is applied in the broadcasting of TV programs, especially the live broadcasting of major international events and breaking news. Simultaneous interpretation is drawing more and more attention and recognized by more and more audience. However, as a newly-emerged type of interpretation, simultaneous interpretation of TV has its own features and difficulties. Meanwhile, the study on simultaneous interpretation is still at exploratory stage. There are also varied criteria to evaluate the quality of simultaneous interpretation of TV. As a result, the quality of current simultaneous interpretation is far from satisfaction. Therefore, based on the analysis and evaluation of the quality of the simultaneous interpretation for President Obama’s speech at Shanghai Museum of Science and Technology, the thesis analyzes the proper criteria for the evaluation of the quality of simultaneous interpretation of TV, with the hope that this thesis could help promote the study on simultaneous interpretation of TV broadcast and make contribution to development of the simultaneous interpretation of TV broadcast.
