In this study,400freshmen were tested by the Adolescent’s Actual Self andIdeal Self Questionnaire. To investigate the level and characteristics of actual self, ideal self in adolescent. Then eligible subjects were rated as the highself-discrepancy (n=20) and the low self-discrepancy(n=20) from400students, First,Each group of subjects respectively executed induced rumination and distraction task.Second, required the participants judge border color of mood faces in Stroop task, andrecord the Eye Movements as index. Discuss the mechanism of rumination anddistraction to actual-ideal self-discrepancies. According to the experimental results ofEye Movements, we examine the ERPs Features of different self-discrepancies(N=27) in emotional processing ruminationand distraction tasks both in thresholdand subthreshold.Results:1) Three-ways ANOVA revealed a significant difference between the latencies andfixation times of processing negative information, the latency of highself-discrepancy group (HSD group) was shorter than that of low self-discrepancy(LSD group) while the fixation time of HSD group was longer tha n that of LSDgroup;2) HSD group was more advantageous to emotional face processing under thethreshold condition. Specifically, shorter N1latency of negative emotion wasfound in HSD group, as well as an enhanced N170amplitude of emotional facewas found in HSD group, compared to LSD group.3) Three-ways ANOVA revealed a significant interaction between the Induced styleand Self-discrepancy under the threshold condition; simple effect analysis showedthat, relative to the distraction inducement, HSD group’s N1response to theemotional face was larger under the rumination inducement;4)4. HSD group was more advantageous to the negative face under the subthreshold.Specifically, relative to the positive face, negative face induced a shorter latency in HSD group.5)5. Three-ways ANOVA revealed a significant interaction between the Inducedstyle and Self-discrepancy under the subthreshold condition; further simple effectanalysis showed that, the P300latency of HSD group was longer than that of LSDgroup, under the rumination inducement.Conclusion:1. Our results found that, HSD group was more sensitive to the emotionalinformation, suggesting HSD group was with negative preference.2. Rumination inducement accelerates HSD group’s attention for negativeinformation.3. Rumination inducement and distraction inducement modulates differentially onthe individuals with different slef-discrepancy.
