As one kind of the modern society culture, pop art is popular with young consumer groups, which transfer product information and enterprise culture in a relaxed and humorous visual image and cater to the young consumer groups, pop art provides enormous energy for modern commercial packaging design.Based on the theory of art and packaging design, the application of pop elements in the modern commercial packaging design is researched in this paper. Firstly, the meaning, origin and development of pop art and the research of the relationships between pop art and design combined with the era background, social culture and consumers are done by reading references. The packaging design and pop art conveys product information and corporate culture and caters to the needs of young consumer groups in a relaxed and humorous visual image. Secondly, the application of the pop art style in the modern commercial packaging design is analysed from the visual language, the implied meaning of color, image modeling combined with cases. A conclusion is drew that the pop art style has been widely used in modern commercial packaging design. It’s especially suitable for the cosmetics and creative products for young consumer groups, which has characteristics of creation element variety, color diversity and imagery modeling.
