This research on the narrativity of the agricultural production pottery funerary objects in Han Dynasty strives to break through the previous research scope of art sculpture,it tries to apply the concepts and methodologies from classical narratology and the relevant analytical ideas of design theory to provide a different understanding rooted in the pattern of design narrative. In Han Dynasty, the agricultural production pottery funerary objects are not only materialization of funeral rituals as commercial goods, but also function as a unique supplementary narrative.Firstly, looking at the historical context of Chinese art narrative development, the development of the art narrative traditions from the pre-Qin to Han dynasties had experienced the stages of "literatureimage-space".The tombs of the Eastern Han Dynasty presented the overall design narrative with the core concept of "space".When the agricultural production pottery funerary objects were placed into the context of the tomb space, their narrativity was characterized by the narrative style, repetition, combination and multiple-combinations of the idea of “Shangxiang”(adoring images).Secondly, the agricultural production pottery funerary objects also contain three levels of narrative subjects, and the tomb owners, designers and other people had also added personal color to the production and arrangement of the production of these pottery funeral objects. All of this were centering on the narrative ritual of “Honoring the Dead as the Living”.By analyzing these narrative strategies,we can find that the agricultural production funerary objects in the Han Dynasty have many unique narrative features that are completely different from the twodimensional stone reliefs. Finally, the narrativity of the agricultural production pottery funerary objects in the Han Dynasty has unique cultural motives, which are mainly reflected in: The revival of Confucianism in the Han Dynasty, including the fate view of “Telepathy between Heaven and Man” and “Harmony Between Human Being and Nature”,the idea of luxuriant burial in “Honoring the Dead as The Living ”,etc.,shapes the cultural core of agricultural production funerary objects in the Han Dynasty;the “policies for national recovery” in the early Western Han Dynasty, the “encouraging farming” and “emphasizing agriculture” thoughts in the Han Dynasty and the folkway of “Shangqin”(valuing diligence)influenced by them forms the narrative art of the agricultural production funerary objects in the Han Dynasty. The social stability that the Han people wanted in their minds and the natural feelings for agriculture were deeply embedded in the narrative of the design of these pottery funeral objects. Therefore, the “narrative nature' is the creation feature of the agricultural production pottery funerary objects in Han Dynasty,it is a small part in the narrative space of tombs that reflects a unique charm of life.
