A Study On The Collected Works Of Fenglin Academy

The collected Works of Fenglin Academy is one of the earliest knowncollection of word set in the early Yuan Dynasty, which has great document valueand high historic value. For the geographical impact and the special times, theword set had not widely circulated after E’Li of Qing Dynasty doing the setcollation and correction of Fenglin Academy. Right now, the research results havecontained many fields including the collation, the author and the connection withJiangxi Ci School, but the content subject and the artistic feature have not beenstudied enough.The paper was focused primarily upon the systematization and artisticfeatures of Fenglin Academy. The first part, summarizing the achievement and theshortage of the former research, introduced the concept of “famous Confucian” inthe choice of words standards firstly. Second, by meaning of the word set, thispaper divided it to four parts including the missing of motherland, the yearning oflove, the mutual giving and the expressing emotion. At the same time,representative works were analyzed in detail. Finally, the paper analyzed Fenglinincluding three aspects: the imagery, classical allusions and the style.The collected works is a particular stage in the history of our literaturedevelopment. Due to the special historical environment of Yuan Dynasty, a specialgroup including Anti-yuan Patriots, high-level officials and hermits was formed.While the authors of Fenglin-Academy served as a connecting link in the dynastychanging. It not only summarized the poetry of Southern Song Dynasty perfectly,but also played an important role in the new style poetry in early Yuan Dynasties.
