The significant Summer Resort, the largest imperial garden in China, has thecomprehensive architectural style of south and north China. It was also the placewhere the emperors in Qing Dynasty handled political affairs and witnessed manyhistorical incidences in the contemporary period of China, so it has great artistic andhistorical values. Because of its particularity, some atlases of Summer Resort handeddown from some famous artists in Qing Dynasty have become the reoccurrences ofthe landscapes of that time and the artistic representations. Therefore, they have greatartistic and historical value and provide some unique materials for developing tourismproducts based on Summer Resort. They need to be developed and made full use of.Chengde is a multi-national area, which breeds peculiar nationalistic style, deepfolk culture, folk art represented by Fengning Manchu paper-cuts and Tengshi clothpaste painting as well as some works of art based on the local resources. They are therepresentations of tourism products with Chnegde characteristics. However, they seemtraditional and single. They can’t adjust to the development demands of Chnengdetourist industry and can’t play the representative role in the Chnegde tourism productsmarket. So, we need to make further research on Summer Resort’s culture anddevelop new products with Summer Resort characteristic in order to meet the needs oftourists.The paper is to collect and classify the ancient atlases of Summer Resort’slandscape, research their artistic style, development and use, analyze the presenttourism products with Chengde characteristic, approach the feasibility of using theancient atlases of Summer Resort’s landscape. Then it draws the conclusion that thetransformed ancient atlases of Summer Resort’s landscape can be fully used as thedevelopment material of tourism products with Chengde characteristic and we canalso use the transformed ancient atlases of Summer Resort’s landscape to develop thenew tourism products which satisfy the tourists’ demands.
