21st century witnesses the frequent contacts among various countries in the aspects like politics,economy and culture. With the increasing influence in the world, China and internationalsociety contact continuously strengthen, the interpretation of foreign affairs as foreign affairsactivities transplant culture necessary means, its importance has gradually emerges. Whilemany assume that once the interpreter masters the grammar of English and speaks fluentEnglish, he/she will become a good interpreter; the research has proved that interpretation is notonly a form of interpreting one language into another but also a cross-cultural behavior.Cultural difference will definitely influence the process and output of interpreting. As the bridgeof cross-culture communication, interpreter should not only understand their own cultures well,but also should keep sharp eyes for other cultures. In cross-culture communication,cross-cultural awareness and cross-cultural communication competence are vital forinterpreters.This paper analyzes the relation between foreign-language interpretation and the awareness ofcross-culture, the necessity of this awareness in the interpretation and the significance ofsuccessful cross-cultural communication for the sake of interpreters who take the job as aprofession. In addition, the supplementing and complementing effects on the profession andcommunication are also discussed in this paper. This paper analyzes the model and thecharacteristics of the interpretation, analyzes the importance of cross-cultural communicativeawareness to interpreters and the effective methods to deal with these cultural barriers. Thispaper aims to study the interpreting of foreign affairs from the perspective of cross-culturalcommunication. During the whole process of interpreting, interpreters have high possibility tomeet many cultural shocks and barriers. What causes cultural barriers and how to deal with them is the key importance in this paper. This paper also discusses and analyzes the currentsituation of cross-cultural communication competence and cross-cultural communicationcompetence’s impact on interpreting. This study aims to find out the existing problems in thecross-cultural communication training for foreign affairs and hopes to provide some basis forthe improvement in interpreting training.
