This paper aims to popularize the beneficial effects of Cardiac Rehabilitation program for the sufferers of coronary heart disease and to familiarize the writing specification of medical review article. The paper focuses on analyzing some principles of word-building on medical English terminology and high-frequency usage of passive voice sentences and complex compound sentences from three levels of word, sentence and discourse by translating the Review Article Cardiac Rehabilitation and Secondary Prevention of Coronary Heart Disease from The New England Journal of Medicine into Chinese.In this report, the background and reasons of the selected medical materials are introduced, and the characteristics of the medical text and some important and complicated problems are analyzed in detail in the process of translation and some translation experience is recorded.According to the characteristics of medical English text, the rules of medical English word-formation are well studied, and some translation techniques are adopted such as the combination of literal and liberal translation, division, addition and omission, etc, and sentence components are specifically recognized during the translation process. To conclude, being a good medical English translator, one should not only have high responsibility, but also grasp some knowledge of medicine science and bilingual competence so as to adopt reasonable translation strategies conforming to criteria of medical English translation, as well as translation guidelines.
