Chinese contemporary literature date back to1949, the founding of People’s RepublicofChina.Butthetranslationandcirculationofthisnewlyborneliteraturehasn’tbeensmoothbecause of the politics and ideology until the implication of reform and open-up policy, afterwhich the communication between China and the western worlds was gradually recovered.Since1990s, the amount of translated contemporary literature has increased a lot, and moreauthors has engaged.Bi Feiyu is an up-rising star in the list, who has won a couple of literature awards bothin China and abroad. In2003, Qing Yi was translated into French and got published. Afterthat, his main works has been published in France one after another. Hereafter, his works hasspread to a couple of other nations, including the English-speaking countries, where he wonthe Man Asia Award.Traveling theory is a new approach and perspective proposed by Edward Said to studythe thoughts and theories in the field of humanities and social science. This thesis will applythe traveling theory to the translation of Bi Feiyu’s works base on the similarity of this twoshares in light of their philosophic significance. It will explore the factors within and withoutthe text referring to the general literary environment in China and overseas. It’s a case studyof descriptive research paradigm combining the tools of comparative literature andtranslation studies to explore the traveling path of Bi Feiyu’s works to understand the reasonof its successful translation and circulation underneath and the instructive meaning totranslation and circulation of Chinese contemporary literature in the future.
