The Realistic Conditions And Specific Approaches For Development Of Creative Industry Clusters In Jinjiang District, Chengdu City

The emerging cultural and creative industry, which celebrates individual innovation and creativity and combines the economy, culture and creativity, is gathering momentum against the background of the knowledge economy era. With its rapid development, the cultural and creative industry plays an increasingly greater role in promoting the economic growth and has become a new growth point in the national economy. Various levels of government, from central to local, have formulated proactive measures with a view to furthering the development of the cultural and creative industry. This thesis explores the realistic conditions and specific approaches for a central district in the Central City in West China to develop a cultural industry cluster in order to realize its dream of becoming a "Creative District."Cultural and creative industry has several growth models, most universal of which is the cluster growth mode which plays cluster effect. Creative industry cluster is the effective way for the development of creative industry. Cultural and creative industry clusters incorporate geographical, industrial and cultural dimensions, thus entailing wholesome environment, well-established industrial network, tolerant multicultural atmosphere, strong consumer demand, conducive comprehensive creative environment and positive government guidance, all of which are the key elements for industry cluster development.Based on an analysis of the advantages, opportunities and problems of developing the cultural and creative industry in Jinjiang District, this thesis puts forward specific ways to develop a cultural industry cluster:i. to draw up a scientific industry development plan; ii. to optimize the cultural and creative industry promotion mechanism and the innovative and creative talents recruiting and management mechanism; iii. to nurture an innovative local atmosphere; iv. to build a few famous local creative brands; v. to integrate an optimum industry cluster development environment with Jinjiang District’s natural endowment in cultural resources and to create a cultural and creative cluster carrier through a variety of modes adapted to local context.
