Objective: The study was designed to compare affective priming effects and semanticpriming effects in the different SOA conditions from the view of individual’s processingfeatures of target stimuli.Method: Using standardly matched materials, take face expressions as prime and putwords with emotion valence and sex feature as target.undergraduates were asked tocompleted lexical decision tasks under three kinds of the SOA (50ms,250ms and500ms),then the data were statistically analyzed by SPSS17.0software.Result:(1)In the SOA=250ms experiment, significant interaction was found amongvalence of prime, gender of prime, consistency of prime and type of target, type of target.F (1,33)=4.778, p<0.05. A further single sample t-test showed that in boy positive-inconsistentcondition, there were significant obstacle effect of affective priming (t=2.243, p<0.05).A morefurther paired t-test showed that in boy positive-inconsistent condition, there were marginalsignificant obstacle effect of semantic priming (t=1.845, p=0.074).(2)in the SOA=500msexperiment, significant interaction was found among valence of prime and consistency ofprime and type of target.F(1,35)=4.806,p<0.05.Conclusion:(1)SOA can affect comparative study of affective priming and semanticpriming.(2) experimental task will influence affective priming and semantic priming.(3) Inthe automated processing mode, analysis of semantic and affective interacts in some way.butaffective priming have priority than semantic priming.
