The Study Of The Occurrence Of Guilt In Infant

In the process of infant sociality and individuality development, due to the emotiondominates the important position all the time. Thereby, the research of infant emotionaldevelopment has became a key point in the field of psychological research gradually.Moreover, the psychologists have found that no matter the positive emotion or the negativeemotion, both of them could provide a unique value to the infant research. Furthermore, theguilt emotion which is one of negative self-conscious emotions has become a hot issue in thepsychological research and a large number of psychologists pay close attention on it. In ourdaily life, guilt is that when the people knew the mistakes, or when they realized that they hadbroke some rules, or hurt somebody else, and they feel shame, anxiety and remorse. The guiltcould make good contribution to enhance the individual self-discipline and social adaption. Inaddition, the infancy is a critical period of emotional development, so pay close attention tothe infant guilt emotion is very important for the future study. Therefore, in this project, guiltis considered as one the self-conscious that they will feel worried when the infant realizedtheir mistakes or hurt others, the infant tend to apologize and want to offset at the same time.On the basis of previous studies, first, the research design combined transverse andlongitudinal. Second, the research also probe when the infant guilt occurs and genderdifferences.The study consists of three main parts.Study1,The occurrence indicators of infants’guilt.Moreover, it is identified the guiltcoding indicators and induced task through literature review, interviews and naturalisticobservation method.Study2, A cross-sectional study of the occurrence of infants，guilt was conducted. Weselect193infants that the age from24months to36months as the samples, and through thetransverse research to know the time range of the guilt occur. And gender differences.Study3, A longitudinal study of the occurrence of infants，guilt was conducted. based onthe second step, through the longitudinal research of the infant from14months to26months,and when the samples to the age at32months.To summer the above research, it is discussed the infant guilt occurs indicators andoccurrence time, and the results are as follow:1.The infant occur indicators include four parts:eyes evaded (look down/aim each otherSecretly); negative emotional state (low mood/ill at ease); the behavior compensate (admit the mistakes and beg for forgive); body tension (nervous fingers activities/limbs tension).Wheninfant appear the emergence of one of the components on behalf of the generic appearing, atthe same time appear four generics,we can infer he/she guilty.2.The guilt of infant occurs between from27months to30months, the numbers becomelarger when the infant get older,and the guilt emotion generally occur at the age of28months.3.No gender differences is shown in the occurring process of guilt.
