This research investigate556high school students’ parenting styles, achievement motivation and academic achievement and relationship which come from Guangzhou panyu district, using Simple Parenting Style Questionnaire (s-EMBU-C) and Achievement Motivation Scale (AMS), and draw the following conclusions:(1) High school parenting there are significant differences. father refused and parental overprotection of boys higher than girls; mother’s emotional warmth and parental overprotection of one-child are significantly higher than non-child; Students from town feel more mother’s refused and overprotection than those from rural students; high three student’s father emotional warmth level is significantly higher than high school students, mother overprotection of high school students is significantly higher than junior high and high three students;the father of a high cultural level greater use overprotective parenting style,the mother of a high cultural level greater use of refuse rearing;good scores than poor students get more parental emotional warmth,less parental refused and overprotection. There are no significant differences on economic level.(2) High school achievement motivation in general is a good level,and have significant differences in gender,grade,and academic achievement,and have no significant differences in one child or not,urban or rural, parents cultural level and family economic level. achievement motivation of boys is significantly higher than girls, girls’ avoid failure motive is significantly higher than that of boys;grade one students’ achievement motivation is significantly higher than that of high grade2students and high grade3students, high grade3students’ avoid failure motive is significantly higher than that of grade one students; good scores than poor students get higher achievement motivation and success motivation,lower avoid failure motive.(3) Father’s emotional warmth of high school students can positively predict academic performance, the mother refused can negatively predict academic performance; high school students’ achievement motivation can negatively predict academic performance; father’s emotional warmth of high school students can positively predict achievement motivation, the mother refused of high school students can negatively predict achievement motivation.(4) Achievement motivation,father emotional warmth,mother refused co-predict academic achievement. achievement motivation and father emotional warmth can positively predict achievement motivation, the mother refused can negatively predict achievement motivation.(5) Achievement motivation of high school students play a mediating role between parenting styles and academic achievement. Father emotional warmth and mother refused can directly affect academic performance, but also through the impact on achievement motivation and thus indirectly affect academic performance.
