In this report, the author chooses two episodes of a documentary film series which was made by CCTV called Made in China as the examples for the performance analysis and comparison of simultaneous interpretation with text and without text. The author introduces, in the first chapter, the definition, skills, and features of SI. In Chapter Two, from three perspectives including task background, introduction, and preparation (background knowledge, words, parallel texts, figure interpretation), the author describes the procedure of the task. Then the author studies the two transcriptions, finds out the mistakes and their causes as well. Finally, the author tries to analyze and compare the performance of SI with text and without text. And based on all the analysis and comparison, suggestions are given in terms of background knowledge, interpreting skills, and psychological quality for the improvement of SI performance. By interpreting this project, the author gets more familiar with the interpreting process and expands vocabulary in manufacturing industry. What’s more, the author obtains the strategies in tackling issues that appears in interpreting. This report will not only guides the future interpretation practice for the author, but also provides study material and support for other interpreting learners.
