The Application Of Reformulation Principle In C-E Simultaneous Interpretation With Text

Under the trend of' globalization,exchanges among all countries have increased,and China has always been actively involved in international affairs.So it calls for high-quality simultaneous interpretation as a tool to communicate with the world and to better convey China's image in various international conferences and international exchanges.And in most of those bis forums,interpreter will be given text for the speech,therefore,the research and study of simultaneous interpretation with text,in particular the Chinese-English in the simultaneous interpretation is essential.This report is based on a simultaneous interpreting practice of the opening speech given by Premier Li Keqiang in 2018 Davos Forum.Due to the large differences in sentence structures and language habits between Chinese and English,the writer decided to choose the Reformulation in simultaneous interpreting and discuss the basic strategies that are included.Also,the interpretive theory is utilized to analyze the theory.Those strategies are information deletion,information addition,logical analysis and restructuring.There are four main parts included.The first part is description of the task.It includes background of the task and introductions of task preparation and its procedure.The Second part is brief introduction of related theories.The third part is case study.It is based on the comparative analysis of two interpreting versions given by the writer and a professional interpreter on the principle of Reformulation.The last part is a conclusion of the interpreting practice and generalization of the strategies of reformulation that can be used in Chinese-English interpreting.Hopefully the suggestions and methods generated from this report could benefit interpreters and help to improve the quality of simultaneous interpretation.
