With the constant development of globalization,the interpretation and translationindustry is about to embrace a brighter future. Since2007, the Master of Translationand Interpreting (MTI) Education Program has been established in nearly160universities and colleges all over the country, providing a large number of interpretingand translation talents for the society. However, the overall employment state hasproved to be rather competitive. Therefore, the true situation and actual quality of theMTI graduates’ employment need more attention.This thesis takes the MTI graduates from the College of Foreign Languages inJilin University as the survey objects to launch a questionnaire survey andunstructured interviews about their employment state. Jilin University is acomprehensive and national key university under the direct supervision of China’sMinistry of Education. Its faculty, educational resources and the students’ overallquality all ranks at the top level in Jilin Province. The research based on theemployment state of the MTI graduates from Jilin University is representative withinthe province and meaningful for other universities and colleges in Jilin Province toimprove related education work and employment guidance. This survey mainlyfocuses on the graduates’ initial employment rate, access to employment information,jobs and working places, incomes, agreement degrees to the profession, satisfactiondegrees and the graduates’ own opinions on the MTI Education Program.Through the information collected from the survey, this thesis also presents thereflections and Counter measures from the angles of personal factors, market policesand features as well as the MTI education mode. The purpose of this thesis is, takingJilin University as an example, to learn about the employment state of the MTIgraduates and to introduce applicable strategies. The feedback information from theresearch has instructive meanings in improving the MTI education, better assistinggraduates in their employment and delivering more qualified talents to the market.
