This thesis studies the difficulties often faced by Indian students studyingbeginner level Chinese, deeply in accordance with the questionnaire based surveyand personal experience as a Chinese language student. It includes five differentaspects of Chinese language teaching, which are phonetics, vocabulary, grammar,Chinese character (script) and culture; and tries to resolve the current problemsoften faced by Indian students dealing with them as they start learning Chinese.This research is mainly based on survey conducted on Indian students studyingChinese at the beginner level in various Universities.The thesis consists of4chapters. Chapter1is the introductory part, in whichthe background and significance of the study are described, and then the theory framework of this thesis are explained through literature review of journals andother dissertations. Chapter2shows the survey conducted on Indian studentsstudying Chinese at the beginner`s level in various Universities, it includes theplanning and the result of the survey. Chapter3is the analysis of the surveyconducted on Indian students. Chapter4describes the counter measures thatshould be taken in view of the analysis, including both; teachers and student`spoint of view.
