A Report On English-Chinese Simulation Sight Interpreting

This simulation sight interpreting practice report is based on the sightinterpreting task the author made of The Hebrides Islands on the Edge. The reportconsists of the introduction, analysis, assessment and summary of this task. Thisreport, combined with knowledge of the author and relevant theories of sightinterpreting, summarizes various problems found during the practice. Some sightinterpreting theories are applied in the analysis of those problems.This report consists of four parts, the task description, the preparation andprocess, the analysis of cases and the assessment. The task description and preparationgive an overall introduction to the task, including sight interpreting text and specificpreparation and implementation. Analysis of the cases is the main part of this report,where the sight interpretation of The Hebrides Islands on the Edge in analyzed. Longsentences and colloquial usage in the English-Chinese sight interpreting are chosen asthe main examples. Some strategies and techniques of sight interpreting are thensummarized problems and mistakes in this sight interpreting are pointed out.Finally, the author made an assessment of this task and a brief summary of thesight interpreting strategies and techniques used in the practice. It is believed that thispractice and report will better orient the author in her future.
