This research focuses on relief brick remains of Han Dynasty. It collects objectsfrom archaeological field that are scientifically excavated and published, from surveycollection and museum collection. Basing on these collected items, author dividenationwide collections into eight regions depending on their intensity of distribution.The eight regions include Henan, northwest Anhui and northern Hubei; Sichuan,Chongqing, west part of Guizhou and northern part of Yunnan; Shandong andnorthern part of Jiangsu; middle-south of Shaanxi, eastern Gansu, southern Ningxiaand southwest of Shanxi; middle part of Hubei; southern part of Liaoning; south partof Jiangsu and northern part of Zhejiang; and middle south of Jiangxi.In the meantime, referring to tombs’ shape and structure, composition andcharacteristic of funeral objects, relief bricks with time record and along with erafeature of relief bricks and relief brick tombs, author researched the periodization ofthe Han dynasty’s relief brick materials in different regions and draw a conclusion onrelated features of relief bricks in different phase of time and in different zone.At last, this article briefly discusses the origin of Han dynasty’ s relief bricks. Itanalyzes how relief bricks in different region may influence each other during Handynasty and aims to create the developing and spreading framework of Han dynasty’ srelief bricks as well.
