Nowadays, the TCSL career in our country is in a period of vigorousdevelopment. However, many foreigners are still speaking Chinese with foreignaccent. This situation causes the concern of the world of TCSL and many scholarsstart to look for the reasons from the aspects of teaching study, acquisition study andbias study etc. Though these studies use large number of empirical investigations asbasis, the studies are mostly microcosmic study. For this reason, the author starts fromthe aspects of phonetic arrangement and macroscopically analyze the problemsexisting in the phonetic arrangement in the elementary comprehensive textbooks ofTCSL, hoping to better perfect the phonetic arrangement of the elementarycomprehensive textbooks of TCSL, and then better serve TCSL phonetic teaching.Developing Chinese and New Practical Chinese Reader Textbook are the twotargeted textbooks among the elementary comprehensive textbooks of TCSL. Thesetwo textbooks are taken as the objects of study and their arrangement of the phoneticpart is analyzed and studied so as to discuss their similarities and differences. As aresult, the inadequacies present in the phonetic arrangement are pointed out and at thesame time, suggestions concerning how to rationalize the phonetic arrangement in theelementary comprehensive textbooks of TCSL are made.This paper can be divided into six parts. In the first part, the origin of topicselection and the study significance are briefly described. In the second part, theinvestigation is made towards the two textbooks Developing Chinese and New Practical Chinese Reader Textbook and the study of phonetic arrangement in theelementary comprehensive textbooks of TCSL is summarized. For the third part, theprinciple of phonetic writing is outlined, and the gradualness of textbook writing andthe writing principle of from easy to difficult should be followed. In the forth part, theoverall and specific arrangement of the phonetic contents in Developing Chinese (I)and New Practical Chinese Reader Textbook are descried.The fifth part is the investigation basing on the forth part. In this part, thearrangement situation of the initials, the finals, tone, syllable, light tone, r-retroflexedtone, modified tone, content of the text and phonetic practice are analyzed with detail.The remaining inadequacies in the aspect of the overall arrangement order ofknowledge points, the arrangement order of several phonetic points, the integrity ofknowledge, the key and difficult points, and the question types and quantity in the twotextbooks are pointed out. In the last part, suggestions concerning the phoneticarrangement in the elementary comprehensive textbooks of TCSL are proposed basingon the investigation and analysis of the two textbooks.
