Changing The Word Order In Japanese-Chinese Translation

Japanese and Chinese belong to different language family in essence. Japanese expresses the importance and grammatical functions of each word by agglutinate structure, such as accessory word, auxiliary verb and function word, which however does not exist in Chinese. The order of words and some form words are used to indicate the grammatical relationship in Chinese, so the order of words is relatively fixed in Chinese sentences. Therefore, the order of word in Japanese is to be considered more flexible than in Chinese, which requests us to follow the order of words when translating is being done.This paper makes a comparison between Japanese sentence and Chinese sentence. It focuses on the differences of the order of words between the simple sentence of these two languages. The main differences exist in the SVO structure, the position of adposition and noun, the position of adverb and verb, the position of privative.In the process of translating Takeshi Yoro’s work negotiate the wall of stupid. This thesis picks up the sentences which I use the method of changing-order to translate. Combining theory with practice, it proves that it is requisite to change the order of words when translating Japanese into Chinese, and it also summarizes the common pattern and methods of changing the order of words. Sincerely, I hope this thesis could be help to enhance the translators’ sensitivity of order of word in both languages, so the translation quality could be improved by handling this type of sentence with high efficiency.
