There are many differences between English and Chinese, since they are two different languages. Accordingly, a translator cannot render word for word; rather, he needs to make some adjustments as required. On the basis of the author's translation practice, the thesis examines the main causes for the differences in word order between the two languages and the methods for adjusting word order in English-Chinese translation; it focuses on the use of the methods of sequential translation and change-order translation through analyzing some examples.
