"Miscellaneous Morsels from Youyang" is a classical notesnovel written by Duan Chengshi. The main body of this paper consists of threeparts.The first part discusses the ghost stories in “MiscellaneousMorsels from Youyang”.By describing ghosts, Buddhist supernatural,signs of vision and other stories, the novel embodies the Buddhistthoughts and ideas of harmony between man and nature, andreproduces the social life in the Tang Dynasty. It presents strangeimagination, his flavored imagination and artistic intersecting theactual situation, promoting the creation of mystery novels to a newheight. The second part discusses the legendary novels in"Miscellaneous Morsels from Youyang". The legendary novelsdescribe the emotional type, cavalier class, different case and othertraditional causal story theme, reflecting the ways of the world,praising the chivalrous spirit, and expressing the author’s yearningfor a better life.
