China and India are the two among four ancient civilizations with long standing history,rich and diversified culture. These two countries already have more than2500years ofcultural exchange. Historically, the origin of Buddhism and their spread in china has been thelargest scale of cultural exchange in history. From eastern Han to later Song period, the spreadand influence of Buddhism in china has been vigorous specially its influence to the Chinesephilosophy, literature, culture, painting, phonology, linguistic, and music are more visible.Spread of Buddhism in china had initiated a large amount of translations of Buddhist scripturewhich in-deed left great influence on the Chinese language. Chinese language underwentgreat change under the influence of Buddhist scripture translations which is visible in Chinesegrammar, phonetics and vocabulary.I, under the background of long standing cultural exchange between India and china,have tried to do a systematic analysis of Chinese loan words originated from India. I havedivided this Thesis into five Chapters. Description of each chapter is as below;Chapter I: Introduction. In this chapter I have discussed the reason for the selection ofthis topic and their significance. I have also summarized the previous research on this topicand have illustrated my method of research.Chapter II: Research Material Analysis. In this chapter I have tried to collect all theChinese loan words originated from India. Basically I have collected these words from 《现代汉语词典》and《辞海》and did a simple analysis.Chapter III characteristics, structural method and categorization of Chinese loan wordsoriginated from India. In this chapter ii have discussed in detail the different characteristics,category and structural synthesis of Chinese loan words originated from India.Chapter IV Morpheme and semantic analysis of Chinese loan words originated fromIndia. In this chapter I have tried to analyze the semantic change of Chinese loan words andtheir morphemic characteristic.Chapter V teaching of Chinese as a foreign language and Chinese loan words originatedfrom India in this chapter I have largely discussed the relation between Chinese loan wordsand TOCFL.
