A Study On The Meaning Of Three-syllable Words In Modern Chinese

As an extremely important class of lexical units in modern Chinese,the three syllable words should occupy an important position in the research of lexical system.But the fact is that the study of the three-syllable words "has long been left out." In recent years,the growing trend of the three-syllable words and the trend of the three syllables of new words remind us all the time:the three-syllable words need to be studied urgently.In this paper,we selected 1147 three-syllable words as the research object,and studied the complex and extrinsic semantic relations of these three syllable words from the four aspects of semantic categories,semantic structure types,semantic fulcrums and metaphorical fulcrums.This study caters to the need of the study of the three-syllable words,provides a new research perspective for the study of the semantics of modern Chinese three-syllable words,enriches the semantic theory of modern Chinese vocabulary and provides the foundation for Chinese information processing,especially word processing.Firstly,selecting and identifying the research object and semantic information annotation,and establishing the semantic database of three syllable words.Based on the 7th edition of "Modern Chinese Dictionary" and "Modern Chinese Syllable Dictionary"(revised edition),1147 syllable words,a total of 1284 syllable word lemmas as the research object.Secondly,semantic information is annotated,which includes the part of speech,number of words,semantic categories,semantic format,type of semantic structure,semantic fulcrum and metaphorical fulcrum.It establishes a semantic information base of three syllables.On this basis,the three syllable words semantic categories,semantic structure,semantic fulcrum,metaphor fulcrum and other aspects of quantitative and qualitative research.Secondly,the semantic categories and semantic structure types of three syllable words are explored respectively from the external and internal aspects.On the one hand is the study of the semantic categories of the three syllable words.The main reference is the semantic classification of "modern Chinese semantic word tag set,which divides 893 noun lemmas into 4 categories,12 categories and 36 subcategories;267 adjective lemmas into two categories,6 classes,11 sub-categories;124 verb lemmas are divided into 7 categories.Then,according to the three syllable words of the meaning of the word explores thesemantic class of the distribution of the lemmas.On the other hand is the study of the semantic structure types of the three syllable words.Based on the analysis of the semantic structure of disyllabic compounds in the "Theory of Chinese Vocabulary Structures"(2004)by Zhou Jian,the semantic structure classification system suitable for three-syllable words is established with appropriate modifications.There are five categories and 21 sub-categories.Under this framework,we examine the types of semantic structure of the three syllable words.The study found that "utility + object object","object + object object","utility + object object" and "v + x" Way + object"and other semantic structure types accounted for more words,belonging to the absolute" strong "type in the semantic structure type.Thirdly,investigating the semantic fulcrum of modern Chinese syllable words.Three syllable words semantic pivot research involving a total of 1058 three syllable words,1190 lemmas.With the aid of semantic fulcrum theory,the location of the morpheme in which the semantic fulcrum is located and the key semantic features that determine the semantic structure type of the three syllable words,namely,the semantic fulcrum,are studied in depth.The study found that in addition to the transliteration words,there are 889 three syllable word lemmas in the front of its semantic fulcrum,there are 277 three syllable word lemmas in the semantic fulcrum behind.It concludes that the semantic pivot of the three syllable words is mainly in front.In addition,the study also found that the semantic fulcrum for the "feature","state","function" of these three types of the largest number of words,belonging to the three syllable word semantic fulcrum "strong" type.Finally,investigating the metaphoric fulcrum of modern Chinese syllable words.A total of 295 syllable word lemmas are involved in the study of the three syllable word metaphorical fulcrums.With the aid of metaphoric fulcrum theory,the decisive relevance semantic features of these three-syllable metaphorical words are analyzed,namely the fulcrum of metaphorical meaning and the fulcrum of metaphorical significance.The conclusion is that the formation of the pivotal pivot of metaphorical three-syllable metaphor,that is,the "semantic relation of decisive relevance" depends mainly on the semantic relationship between the original meaning before formation and the metaphorical one after its formation.This "semantic relation" Things in the same or similar shape,performance,size,color,degree and so on.In addition,it is found that most of the metaphorical meanings of the three-syllable metaphorical words come from metaphoricalization of the whole wordual meanings,while a few come from the metaphorical meaning of the original meaning of the original word and very few from the metaphorical meaning of the original meaning of the latter.The study of the semantic fulcrum and the metaphoric fulcrum is the two major innovations in this thesis.As the previous research did not deal with these aspects,this article can only be considered in the initial exploration and exploration.Because of this,there are certainly some deficiencies in the definition of concrete concepts and analytical methods,which are subject to further improvement.
