On Press Conference Interpreting Strategies From The Perspective Of Relevance Theory

The Premier’s Press Conferences during NPC and CPPCC Sessions are held inBeijing in March every year. It is a good opportunity for China to show itself to theworld, for the world to recognize China under the background of global development.People pay more and more attention to the Conferences. Relevance Theory is adoptedas guiding ideology, interpretation cases of professional interpreters in Ministry ofForeign Affairs are analyzed from multiple perspectives with comments ofappreciation, and interpretation strategies of the Press Conference are proposed fromfour aspects of prediction, wording, transformation, and supplementary withRelevance Theory as guidance concepts.The author based on the interpreting cases, analyzes the interpreting strategies ofthe Press Conferences during NPC and CPPCC Sessions from the perspective of Relevance Theory. Four interpreting strategies are put forward by analyzing sufficient interpreting cases from the perspective of Relevance Theory. The thesis utilizesRelevance Theory as theoretical foundation to generalize and summarize the materialof the Press Conferences during NPC and CPPCC Sessions in2013.
