This study starts from the perspective of positive psychology, with well-designed group activities in form of group counseling, aims at exploring the effect of group counseling on college students’gratitude level and prosocial behavior intervention. The test objects are freshman of the Wenhua College of Huazhong University of Science and technology. We make group counseling to them and research if the special gratitude level (missing sense of deprivation, social gratitude, gratitude for the natural things) and pro-social behavior of the college students are improved after the group counseling.Pre-test, post-test and testing&tracking method was used in the experiment. We test the experimental group and control group separately before conducting group activities. After that, the experimental group members should conduct a six times period group activity which the control group members do not participate. Then we measure the two groups separately by scale forms. In the paper, we take the measures according to "Gratitude, Resentment, and Appreciation Test"(GRAT), revised by Sunwen Gang (2010) and compiled by Watkins, and "questionnaire of pro-social tendencies", revised by Cong Wenjun (2008) and compiled by Gustavo Carlo. Compared to the questionnaires used in the past researches, these two questionnaires are more innovative and has a high degree of reliability and validity. In addition, they take the cultural differences between China and the West into account.According to the regression analysis on the statistical software of Spss17.0, we can conclude that:(1) The front-test analysis between the experimental group and the control group indicates that, in terms of each dimension of gratitude, gratitude sums and prosocial sums, there is no significant difference between them, which means that the two group are identical before group counseling.(2) Comparison between the front-test and rear-test differences on gratitude and prosocial of experimental group shows that there are significant differences in the dimension of the sense of deprivation and gratitude to the natural things (p<0.01), the dimension of gratitude to society also reaches a significant level(p<0.05). Yet there is no positive effects to the prosocial behavior sums(p>0.05). (3) According to the results of track-test on the experimental group, we can see that, after three-month intervention on this group by the gratitude group counseling,to some extent the intervention effects on gratitude level has been preserved(p<0.05), but the intervention effects on prosocial level didn’t be well preserved(p>0.05)..
