Chinese progressive compound sentence is the commonly used sentence in daily communication, which has many characteristics such as widely application, variety of sentence patterns and clear logic. Not only are students prone to make errors when using it, but teachers in classroom teaching activities are difficult to grasp its importance and difficulties. From the researches in recent years, the progressive compound sentence has been paid attention in the teaching Chinese as a foreign language, and some research achievements have been made. Due to the insufficiency of research in the acquisition of progressive compound sentence for a certain abroad students, this paper will study the using of Chinese progressive by Vietnamese students with the theories of contrast analysis, errors analysis, and interlanguage analysis.First of all, the descriptions about progressive compound sentence should be fully understood and then "HSK dynamic composition corpus" of Beijing Language and Culture Univercity and "interlanguage corpus" of Jinan university are used to search Vietnamese students natural language; And questionnaire are designed to investigate the foreign students’understanding of avoiding using progressive sentence; At last, the different usages of progressive sentences are analyzed with the statistics and ordered to find the Vietnamese students in using of progressive compound sentences. From this, the characteristics and problems of their using of progressive compound sentences can be summarized and the order of acquiring progressive compound sentences can be concluded.Second, the bias type is classified from the corpus and experimental investigation for Vietnamese foreign students’progressive sentences. The features of their bias in using Chinese progressive sentences are summarized based on specific statistics with the help of contrast analysis and errors analysis. Then the reasons for this bias are analyzed from the perspective of students’native language transfer, learning strategies, communication strategies and teaching strategies.Finally, the difficulties of Vietnamese students’acquisition of progressive compound sentences are summarized according to the analysis of their bias in using progressive compound sentences. All of these characteristics and situations can provide some suggestions for teaching Chinese as a foreign language for Vietnamese students.
