Quotational Studies Of"Qi Lu Deng"

Quotation is one of the most common communication phenomena, existing both in spoken language and written language. Back in ancient Greece, some scholars had already began to pay attention to the different ways of expression. In Plato’s "Republic" Volume III, Socrates distinguished "mimesis" and "diegesis" in two ways:"mimesis", is direct demonstration of the character’s discourse;"diegesis" is the character’s language rephrased by the poet. This is roughly equivalent to the later Direct and Indirect speech distinction. In literature, Western literary philosophy and philosophy of language, quotation occupies a very important position in research, also, quotation is an important concept of contemporary discourse linguistics, so it has high academic value.The thesis attempts to use the methods of combination of description and explanation, combination of synchronic and diachronic studies, combination of quantitative statistics and qualitative analysis, mathematical statistics to analysis the quotational classification, quotational structure, functional features, the quotational development and changes of "Qi Lu Deng"。First, in the first chapter, It mainly introduced the research objectives, the research content, the key issues to be addressed, current research, research methods and the introduction of "Qi Lu Deng", etc. In the second chapter, we made an multi-angle quotational classification of "Qi Lu Deng", total analyzed from four perspectives:1. From the angle of quotational layers, it was divided into "single layer quotation","double layer quotation","multi-layer quotation","single layer quotation" can be divided into "direct speech","indirect speech" and "overview";2. From the angle of quotational content, it was divided into "real quotation" and "unreal quotation";3. From the points of evidentiality of quotation, we can divide it into "high degree evidentiality quotation" and "low degree evidentiality quotation";4. According to quotation sources, it can be divided into the "spoken source quotation" and "literal source quotation". Chapter three mainly analized quotational structure in detail, we made an analized on quotation format, guiding phrase, cited words, verbs of speech type and its distribution in context, etc. Chapter four analized the communicative function of quotation and the means which influenced the expression of speech; The fifth chapter made a summary and explanation of dialect vocabulary words and phrases in "Qi Lu Deng". Finally, In chapter six, we draw a conclusion and gave an outlook of quotational studies of "Qi Lu Deng".
