In recent years, teaching Chinese as a second language has attracted the attention of people around the world. Especially for the students who are native speakers of Indo-European language; Chinese, as a branch of the Sino-Tibetan language family, is difficult to learn. Classifier is one of the important linguistic features of Chinese, and the classifiers for noun reflect the traits of it. So, classifiers for noun become an important part of teaching Chinese as a foreign language and attract more and more attention.A lot of foreign students are confused about whether the classifiers in "numeral-classifier-noun" structure can be omitted or not. In this paper, the phenomenons of omitted and non-omitted classifiers for noun are discussed based on the ontology research achievements of classifiers, and then generalize to the teaching of classifiers, make it much easier for the English learners to learn the classifiers for noun and avoid mistakes when communicating or writing by using "numeral-classifier-noun" structure. The paper consists of four chapters:In the first chapter, the reason why this theme is chosen, the domestic and teaching as a second language research about classifiers, and the subjects of study are introduced. In the second chapter, identity analysis of classifiers for noun is discussed. It’s about how other language scientists classified the classifiers for noun, the marks of count and semantic, the conditions of omitting of classifiers for noun in "numeral-classifier-noun" structure. Typical "numeral-noun" structure, the types of noun can be used in this typical kind of structure and the language environments that the structure can appear are also introduced. In the third chapter, the errors about the omittance of classifier for noun are classified, and so are the reasons why these errors are emerged. In the fourth chapter, three suggestions about how to teach classifiers for noun in "numeral-classifier-noun" structure are presented. At last, I hope that the content in the paper can be helpful in the process of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, and I also wish that more and more language researchers and enthusiasts will pay attention the study of classifiers.
