One significant feature of modern Chinese is the using of the quantifier, and thevast majority of quantifiers is noun classifiers. To some extent this distinctive featureof Chinese affects Korean language, so there are many quantifiers in Korean evolvedfrom Chinese, and still being in use. There are two sets of vocabulary systems in Korean, which are the inherentwords vocabulary system and the Chinese words vocabulary system. For the latter’sexistence in Korean, Chinese and Korean both have quite a few noun classifiers of thesame. Chinese Words in Korean are derived from Chinese, however, as the constantdevelopment and change of their own, they reinvest different meanings from theoriginal meaning in Chinese, which resulted in the differences in usage betweenKorean and Chinese. This study compares the noun classifiers that included in Chinese ProficiencyVocabulary and Characters Level Outline.Through the comparison, we try to findboth similarities and differences in the two vocabulary systems, sum and analyzeKorean students’ errors while using noun classifiers by the direction of mothertongue’s negative transfer theory. Finally, based on the above-mentioned study, Iwould like to support a few suggestions for the noun classifiers teaching towardsKorean students.Overall, the article is divided into five chapters: The first chapter is theintroduction, describing reasons, significances, the range and methodology of thisstudy; The second chapter is the past review on studies of Chinese and Korean’squantifiers and also their comparison; Chapter Three compares Chinese and Korean’squantifiers that included in Chinese Proficiency Vocabulary and Characters LevelOutline, to find and classified similarities and differences in the usage of the twovocabulary systems; The fourth chapter, by quoting quantifier errors from HSKdynamic Composition Corpus, I analyze the impact of the negative transfer of Koreanon Chinese learning; Chapter V, on account of the present condition, I make severalrecommendations on the quantifier teaching towards Korean students, which includestwo aspects, one is textbooks and their dictionaries, another is about teaching strategyand methods.
