In the Chinese language, classifier constitutes a word category with nationalcharacteristics, composed of specific classifier and temporary classifier. Temporarynoun quantifier, as a key part of temporary classifier, serves as a relatively importantsub-category in the classifier system. The Chinese language circles and the TCFLcircles conducted inadequate studies of temporary noun classifier, much less temporaryquantifier. With the popularity of Chinese mania and the constant broadening anddeepening of TCFL, temporary noun quantifier teaching plays an increasinglyimportant role in the TCFL strategy, but studies of this aspect remains to be enriched.As a consequence, a study of temporary noun quantifier and its TCFL strategy will beconducted in this subject. It not only conducts an ontology study of temporary nounquantifier, but also integrates the statistical result of data obtained through samplinginternational students of intermediate level from Hunan University from theperspective of cognition and TCFL. According to teaching principles, a research of thestrategy for TCFL is done in terms of temporary quantifier. On the basis of theoreticalresearches and realities resulted from investigations, some feasible and effectivesuggestions for the teaching of temporary noun quantifier in TCFL are put forwardfrom the aspect of outline, textbook, class, teaching and the cultural background ofinternational students.It is expected that this study can broaden my academic horizon, and meanwhilecontribute to the research of temporary noun quantifier and the popularity of Chinesearound the world. Researches of temporary quantifier and TCFL strategy are oftheoretical and pragmatic significance to popularize the Chinese languageinternationally. This thesis consists of the following four parts: Part One is theintroduction which introduces its research background, organizes its literatureoverview and generalizes its researches over these years. The current research situationshows us that there is ample space for studying temporary noun quantifier and itsteaching in TCFL. Based on this, research content and methodology are determined soas to explore its researching significance; Part Two gives an analysis of thedetermination of the name of temporary noun quantifier, and a painstaking research ofits category and features, including its semantic feature and measuring feature; PartThree probes into the semantic selection and grammatical function of temporary noun quantifier and noun; Part Four, namely the last part, clears up the data from thequestionnaire, gives an analysis of the deviation types of temporary quantifier, exploreits reason and comes up with some solutions to the TEFL strategy for temporary nounquantifier teaching.
