This article chooses to compare two country-specific elemental Chinese teaching materials for junior high school students in Thailand, Experiencing Chinese and Happy Chinese.Experiencing Chinese is a textbook specific for Thai students, it is written by International Language Researching and Developing Center, with the help of China Hanban and Thailand Elemental Education committee. Happy Chinese is written by Tianjin Experiment Middle School, with the help of many experts from China and Thailand. This article will focus on comparing the parts for Junior high school students (Grade1).I used to work in Thailand as a Chinese volunteer for one year, and got some precious first-hand information. Therefore, based on statistics and questionnaire analyzing, this article will compare the vocabulary, functional items, culture elements and text.Vocabulary:compare the total vocabulary, vocabulary for each textbook, each lesson and vocabulary out of program.Functional items:compare the total amounts, proportion, common functional items and if they can satisfy the need of Thai students.Culture elements:compare the total amounts, the way how culture elements are shown. Text: compare the forms, topics, language and difficulty level.
